Welcome to Mrs. Merriweather's Homepage

This year, it is my pleasure to be your child's English Language Arts teacher! I have been teaching for 19 years, and I am excited to join Columbia County! I am stoked about working with your child this year in either the 10th Pre-AP or 11th AP Language and Comp class as we explore their voice and different works of non-fiction! I enjoy reading and open discussion because I truly believe students develop their own voices through the written word, and that's what is a the foundation of both of these courses. I will be teaching your student how to construct their argument via discussion and written word through the Socratic method-divergent thinking this year. This will teach them how to critically think about others' points of view and how to use those views in collusion with their own to shape a thesis and support it. We are preparing them to be world thinkers and world changers!  With that, I look forward to meeting and working with you all! Let's make it a great year!
